The Shuttle demonstration project ends. Total transit volume among seniors (those age 60 or over) has grown 6%. Rides to passengers living with disabilities have grown 19%. Trips consumed by general public passengers are up 73%. The demonstration project average of 651 rides per week (294 seniors, 276 general public and 81 passengers with disabilities) becomes the new benchmark. It will be obliterated in the coming weeks. |

Less than a month into its demonstration project The Shuttle records 71 rides in a day - the first time that the daily average exceeded the six ride per hour benchmark that the design consultants said would be indicative of a successful system. The consultants estimated it would take six months to reach this volume level. |
